All machines within the European Union must comply with the fundamental safety and health requirements of the Machinery Directive (2006\/42\/EC). These regulations apply to all new machines that are sold or put into operation within the European Union. But there are also so-called minimum safety and health requirements for existing machines and machine parks. However, these fall under the Work Equipment Directive (2009\/104\/EC).
